How the visual fog screen works

The operation of the fog screen, or mist curtain, is based on ultrasonic technology. But what is this technology and how does it work?!

Ultrasonic technology, which is commonly used in cool mist humidifiers and sometimes in warm mist humidifiers as well, consists of a piezoelectric ceramic disc. Because the ceramic is piezoelectric, it vibrates in the presence of an electric current at an ultrasonic frequency (a frequency at which the sound of the wave created in the water can no longer be heard).

This causes oscillation in the water, and the water in turn tries to follow the high-frequency vibration of the plates. However, because of mass inertia and relative weight, it cannot oscillate at the same frequency, and the water wave moves with a delay behind the disc wave. The result is the formation of a low-pressure region between them. This then forms a cavity. This cavity may be a vacuum or may fill with air, because water also contains dissolved air, which moves toward the cavity when the low-pressure region is created.

Fog screen smart capabilities

When this cavity collapses, it releases a large amount of energy. The vibration of the disc also creates capillary waves on the water surface. Because of surface tension and gravity, these capillary waves move the oscillations up and down. When the cavity collapses, a transverse capillary wave forms on the surface. As a result, extremely fine water droplets are created above the wave, with enough energy to overcome surface tension and leave the water surface. They can also easily enter the air.

It is also possible to make the fog screen smart by using a small sensor, so that the images can be moved by hand gestures.

Installation and setup of the fog screen device

If it is for rental, it is mounted on a space frame, and if purchased, the device is installed with metal framing. The mist curtain requires a water supply; in the fixed version, it is connected to mains water, and in the rental version, a tank is placed on it.
